20th Sept 2009: Harvesters South 3 v U14 Raiders 6

This game was in the league cup it was due to be a home game but a lack of pitch availabilty saw us having to reverse the fixture, Harvesters are a league below us but bearing in mind the start to the season that weve had nothing was being taken for granted, we still only managed to have 12 players available for this game seems to be a bit of a recurring feature at the moment, we started positively enough and take the lead through Christian Tye after only 5 mins now you’d think that the flood gates would open and we would win the game at a canter but seeing as we like to do things the hard way, we allowed harvesters to hit a long range effort that looped over Jordan I’anson and that makes it 1-1 we had enough attempts to have taken the lead but to no avail so at half time its 1-1.
The second half gets of to a stormer and we take the lead through Robson Bembridge who hits a left footed half volley over his shoulder to put us 2-1 up but this time there was no switching off or lapses of concentration infact we pushed on and Brandon Collins popped up with a goal 3-1, now with their tales up and a real belief flowing through the team christian pops up with another goal 4-1 and a real drubbing looks on the cards but harvesters again beat the offside trap and their big centre forward lumps a long shot over Jordan 4-2, now the next goal is going to be really important so thankfully it fell to us it was scored by Robson 5-2, so with just about 8 mins left the raiders are pushing on still looking for more goals but a lapse at the back and a slice of bad luck, harvesters manage to pull another goal back 5-3 so with minutes remaining and harvesters pushing on the raiders score a perfect counter attacking goal with Stephen Mcdonagh finishing a brilliant flowing piece of football the game finished 6-3 to the raiders and sets up a match against Potters bar in the next round i’ll keep you informed of our progress.
13th Sept 2009: Finchley Revolution 4 v U14 Raiders 0

Our game this week was against another team that we have locked horns with over the past couple of seasons, we arrived at their ground to find that we only had 12 players this week but still one more than last week, after swapping reg cards we realise that this team is a totally new team from last year and that nearly all of their players seem to be 6ft, but we were still upbeat with a belief that our football would see us through, we didn’t seem to be at the races for this game and we allowed ourselves to be bullied we just didnt seem to be up for the fight we went in at half time 1-0 down.
After a frank discussion at half time the boys seemed more positive in the second half and started to play football if only in small passages but the mistakes started to return and then the self doubts, after losing a second goal everything seemed to go down hill and we just seemed to implode, i honestly dont know how this team managed to beat us 4-0 as i believe that they only had 5 maybe 6 clear cut attempts at goal in the whole game but hey thats football.
6th Sept 2009: Omonia 5 v U14 Raiders 4

We opened our season with an away game to Omonia, we only had a bare 11 players due to registration issues. The boys were eager to get their season off and running and were looking forward to their first game. Facing our old foes Omonia seemed as good a way to start as any, the game kicked off and was a pretty even game not a great deal of goal mouth action for either side untill in the 20th minute Brandon Collins made a great block challenge but unfortunately in doing so injured his ankle and couldnt play on, so there we are now down to 10 players. in the confusion of losing a player we were soon a goal down aswell when Omonia hit a speculative shot from just in our half which nestled in the top corner 1-0, and before you know it a lack of concentration from a corner and were 2-0 down, a bit of a re shuffle with positioning and its game on again our first goal is scored by our captain Rory Moruzzi after a determined run and a couple of bits of deft skill he slots the ball past the keeper 2-1, now with the pressure on Omonia they start to look a little shaky and after a corner Christian Tye scores his first goal for Oakhill 2-2 and were on a roll but just after our goal the ref blows for half time.
The half time team talk is all about staying focused and not giving the ball away so with this in the raiders players ears the first thing that happens is a complete mistake and were 3-2 down, again we rally the troops and swap a couple of players positions and again it works a treat and before you know Stephen Mcdonagh slots the ball home 3-3 what a game, this goal seemed to spur Omonia on and they really went for us and the extra man was starting to pay dividends for them we were looking very tired and it wasnt very long before yet another lack of concentration cost us a goal 4-3 Omonia, now the raiders showed their spirit and went all out hell for leather attack attack attack the only problem with that is you need to make your chances count and unfortunately we didnt even worse was the fact that we left ourselves open at the back and a quick counter attack saw us go 5-3 down, still with the desire to fight on we scored a forth through Sean Hammond but that was to be the last change in the score so we went down 5-4 with 10 men a very galant effort from the boys.
